Disability Confident employers: what it means

A government scheme for employers - what it tells you, and what it doesn't.

Disability Confident is a Department for Work and Pensions scheme that encourages employers to improve how they recruit, retain and develop disabled people (GOV.UK: Disability Confident).

The three levels

  • Level 1: Disability Confident Committed
  • Level 2: Disability Confident Employer
  • Level 3: Disability Confident Leader

How to check an employer

GOV.UK publishes a list of the employers that have signed up and their level (GOV.UK: employers that have signed up).

What it tells you, and what it doesn't

Signing up shows an employer has committed to the scheme. It doesn't tell you exactly what support you'll get in a particular job, so it's still worth asking the employer what adjustments they can offer.

On GetMeHired

GetMeHired job adverts don't show an employer's Disability Confident status. Use the GOV.UK list to check.
